Those darn raccoons and the theft of the gnomes

So, a couple of weeks ago, I blogged about the raccoons that have invaded our turf. Turns out, they are not only annoying, they are also thieves. On our back deck, there is a water fountain that sits on the deck and is about two feet tall. We built up a few items in the fountain to get a more pleasant sound when the water hits. One of the items was a little statue from the Dollar Store of two gnomes playing poker at a little table. Well, two nights ago, the darn raccoons stole the gnomes. I went outside at about 10 a.m. and noticed the gnomes were missing. It was immediately evident that it was the raccoons because their little muddy paw prints were all around the fountain. My mom chalked the gnomes up as a loss and went about her business (although she did actually really like the gnomes). Later that night, my dad was cutting some weeds about 20 yards into the woods behind our house and he found the gnome statue. It had a bite out of one of the hats, but there it was. It has since been replaced in the fountain and hopefully it'll stay there this time!
