After about a 9-month hiatus of going to the theatre, I've been twice in the last three weeks. I guess that's what the summer blockbusters will do for you. I saw "Star Wars Episode III" a couple of weeks ago and thought it was great. I think Ewan McGregor has truly "become" Obi Wan Kenobi to me. It is a "Must See" in my opinion.
Most recently, I saw "Batman Begins" last night. I've been a fan of most of the Batman films, but in my honest opinion, this one beats them all. It is awesome getting to watch the transformation of a man into a superhero. I thought Christian Bale did a fine job as both Batman and Bruce Wayne, but I really thought it was the supporting cast that made this movie. Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman are tremendous.
I've also recently seen both the new and original versions of "The Longest Yard" and I've got to say, while I'm a huge Adam Sandler shill, the original is hands down the better movie. That's not saying that the new one is horrible, but the original is just a bit better.
That being said, what did you think? Have you seen these movies? Seen other summer movies? Please comment so we can compare notes. See you at the movies ("Fantastic 4" is just a few weeks away!)!

I thought Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was really funny. And I'm looking forward to seeing Bewitched this Friday and Fantastic 4 whenever that comes out.
Episode III was excellent. I concur with the "must see" assessment, Star Wars fan or not. It's just a great ride. Obi-Wan dominates every scene he's in. You know how Ford just owned the Solo part? That is how I feel about McGregor after Episode III. He's just comfortable with his role.
Batman Begins might be the best movie I've ever seen. Well, LOTR is still my #1, but Batman Begins is battling it for the top spot in my action/adventure psyche. I am terribly partial to the Batman character (don't like Spiderman or Superman, or X-men, etc. all that much). Just fantastic.
I wonder who's going to be the next villain (actor, I mean...trying not to spoil)?
I thought Ep III was okay, definitely better than Eps I and II. That being said, it's a little slow in the beginning, and I really think Lucas could have used a good story editor on the entire trilogy.
As for Batman, it's my favorite Bat-movie, but it didn't wow me. Spider-man 2 and X2 wowed me -- I saw those and immediately wanted to see them again. Not so with the Bat.
I've been hearing rumors that the next Bat-villain will be the Joker, and that Mark Hammill of all people is on the short list to portray him... Granted, Mark is the quintessential voice of the Joker, but I don't know if he has the look of the Joker.
